Of recent, we at Gullywasher are finding that more governmental-based organizations are having us qualify our industrial stormwater filter products against a series of environmental attributes that will benefit their use at the various sites on a long-term basis.

Bio-based,

Dual Stage Upflow Biofilters: We utilize a non-chemical, non-electrical passive filter process that uses a media mix of organic biochar (fly ash from sawmills) and Dakota peat. Both of these medias are from products that were grown from the earth.

Carcinogen-free,

Dual Stage Upflow Biofilters: We utilize a non-chemical, non-electrical passive filter process that uses a media mix of organic biochar (fly ash from sawmills) and Dakota peat. Both of these medias are from products that are used in organic farms to grow their foods.

CFC-free,

Dual Stage Upflow Biofilters: We do not use any material that is produced with CFC materials for the manufacture of our biofilters.

Durable,

Dual Stage Upflow Biofilters: The first and second stage vessels are UN rated UV protected hazmat certified transport/storage totes. They are made for heavy industrial use.

In addition, we pipe with Schedule 80 PVC in order not to impart any additional concerns into the stormwater while withstanding the UV radiation.

MetalCompliant Catch Basin Filter Inserts: Our MetalCompliant filter inserts are the only metal-removing inserts on the market with the ability for them to be easily cleaned out and repeated reused. Clients typically get 2-3 years use with our filter inserts prior to replacing them.

Their frames and baskets that hold the filter inserts in place are of a heavy construction that will last over 15 years.

Energy Efficient,

Dual Stage Upflow Biofilters: The design of our biofilters is passive and do not require electricity or chemicals – just gravity.

Low toxicity,

Dual Stage Upflow Biofilters: The design of our biofilters utilizes organic medias and do not require any chemicals.

MetalCompliant Catch Basin Filter Inserts: The design of our MetalCompliant filter inserts utilizes a sodium exchange media.

Minimizes Virgin Materials,

Dual Stage Upflow Biofilters: The design of our biofilters repurposes single use chemical totes for our 275 BioUP biofilters. These totes were a single use container for the storage of chitosan – a stormwater coagulate made from crab shells.

The biochar portion of our treatment media is the flyash from wood-fired boilers at sawmills burning the waste and scrap wood from their lumber operations.

Made from rapidly renewable materials,

As long as trees are growing for making lumber, there will be a rapidly renewable source for biochar.

Recyclable or contains recycled content

Reduced Greenhouse Gas Emissions,

Dual Stage Upflow Biofilters: The design of our biofilters utilizes biochar in its media mix and are considered to be carbon negative and carbon sinks.

Refurbished

Reusable,

Dual Stage Upflow Biofilters: The design of our biofilters is made to be easily rebedded with just the spent media for continual use.

Scalable

Dual Stage Upflow Biofilters: If the environmental authorities lower the benchmark compliance limits, the metals removal efficiency of our biofilters can be improved upon simply by adding more filters.  This, in turn, allows your site to keep its existing infrastructure in place – needing only to supplement its process capacities to the new regulatory levels for compliance.

Upgradable,

Dual Stage Upflow Biofilters: The design of our biofilters can use virtually any filter/treatment media that comes up in the future. We have also folded all design improvements into all of our existing biofilters for improving their performance.

MetalCompliant Catch Basin Filter Inserts: The design of our MetalCompliant filter inserts can use virtually any metals exchange media that shows removal improvement.

Water-efficient.

Dual Stage Upflow Biofilters: The design of our biofilters minimizes the waste of water. Only when the cleaning of its filter insert requires wash water (that can be used for watering plants afterwards); otherwise, it is a mass displacement – water in equals water out.

Our biofilters can boast about having the highest metal-removing efficiencies in the market. We typically achieve 93% – 99.7% removals!

MetalCompliant Catch Basin Filter Inserts: The design of our MetalCompliant filter inserts can boast about having the highest metal-removing efficiencies in the market. We typically achieve 73% – 96.5% removals!
